Sugar Surprise!

I don’t eat as much sweet stuff as I thought I did.
So, this “no-suga” thing is going quite well.  I thought I’d get headaches, become frustrated & cranky--counting the days until I could eat the white stuff again.
Instead, it’s been a breeze. I’ve been a perfect princess, a swell sweetheart, a darling doll wondering just how long I can keep it up!
Okay, a few exaggerations in there but this isn’t half bad.
Today marks 21 days off sugar and I haven’t even thought about giving in.
As it turns out—most of the things I eat on a daily basis have no sugar anyway, so it hasn’t been much of a strain on the taste buds.
But here are two things I’m still eating and refuse to give up--options some may consider a way of “cheating”:
1/Fruit
*I realize some people may think this is like quitting cigarettes yet still vaping. But I won’t quit eating something that’s natural & good for me.
*I’m eating pineapple, apples, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, dates & prunes. These fruits are full of good stuff- phytonutrients, fiber, vitamins, minerals and water.
*Fruit is critical for a good diet—so I’m sticking with it. Plus, what would I put in my protein shake for dessert!?
 2/Manuka Honey
I started eating this type of honey about 5 years ago and I love it. Yes, it’s sugar but it’s also a strong antioxidant with medicinal properties.
*Manuka honey is produced from bees pollinating the Manuka Flower bush in Australia & New Zealand.
*I go for a type containing a 15+ UMF (Unique Manuka Factor). The higher the UMF the higher the antioxidants it contains.
*Manuka honey is good for digestion, oral health, clearing up the skin & more.
Dessert
So, at the end of the day I have to savor something that is seemingly scrumptious. Swipe to see my concoction.
It includes dates, prunes, small amount of plain Greek yogurt (no sugars added), one tsp. of Manuka honey & almond butter, 100% pure cacoa powder & pure egg white protein powder. On top, I add raw almonds and pure Cacao nibs for crunch and texture.
I make it the night before & freeze it. It takes a long time for me to eat—which is enjoyable and feels delectably deceitful!

Terrible Tightness!

Running regrets. I haven’t been able to run the last seven days due to incredible muscle soreness.
On one hand I know I’m hitting new muscle groups. But I miss my runner’s high!
What’s made me sore!?
I’ve added abductor & adductor work. I used to think those were only good for resting—you know, to make phone calls & text. Well, that IS what I see people doing on those machines. In fact, I once saw a gal watching a Hallmark Channel movie on her phone!.
But add the right amount of weight-- 100 & 90 lbs.-- and romance is the last thing on my mind, well, most of the time anyway!

Relieving Soreness
1/Hydrate-water is best. Don’t’ waste your money on “energy” drinks. Not necessary at all.
2/Stretch-Before and after work outs. I do a lot of this while watching TV at night.
3/Massage-work out areas with hands and/or a roller—even a tennis ball under the glutes works well.
4/Epsom Salts Bath-Love these. Usually take 1-2 a week (6 in winter). Experts say it’s like a meditative experience for our muscles.
5/Eat Pineapple or tart cherries-Both help with inflammation
6/Watch form-while working out watch your form. Bad posture or stance can add to soreness.

BTW: for the first time—ever—I chose worst pics out of the bunch. Millie & Roxy looked so darn cute as both came up & posed showed their booty. I had 7 pics to & chose the two worst—bad booty shots, no flexing. But would you look at my girls!??!

Ladies: Look at my Earrings!

So, as you know this Website is about physical AND mental health. One way I like to stay healthy mentally is treat myself! And that’s exactly what I did with these earrings. And you will want to as well. This story is more about jewelry. It’s a continuing story, I’ll be sharing over the next few months about how I found the maker and why he is one heck of an inspiring guy. You will love him AND his jewelry.

First, part one of the story:

Mine!
That was my first word as a baby.
My brothers—Mike & Steve, both older—would always take things from me. So, I learned to speak up & take action.
I haven’t changed much. Yep—I’m still a big baby. And so when I see something I like or want; I claim it or search for it: MINE!
That’s the case with these earrings I’m wearing.
They are the most beautiful, delicate, flower drop earrings I’ve ever seen. But what’s even more remarkable--the details behind these dazzling diamonds.
My search to find them would lead me to an incredible story of success, heartbreak, bravery, persistence & love.
But first let me tell you how the jewels appeared on my radar in the first place.
One of my best friends from High School who now lives in Malibu, California visited me here in Arizona more than a year ago.
Beth gets off the plane looking fabulous as always but the earrings she’s wearing? Stunning! I become obsessed with having a pair exactly like them.
But she’d received them as a month’s rent payment 10 years ago from a tenant staying in the maid’s cottage behind her home on the Pacific Ocean.
So, I set out to find a jeweler in town to re-create them. But the price was astronomical & many wanted *me* to choose each intricate part of the earring.
Then I would find Al on eBay.
Al is a New York City jewelry store owner, designer and artist with a shop close to Times Square. He creates stunning pieces. I buy two pair of his elegant, dangling earrings and I’m incredibly impressed with the quality & beauty.
The more I look at his jewelry, the more impressed I become. And then-- an idea strikes me! Ta-dah!
To be continued…..
You will be amazed, inspired and I know, moved by Al’s story. In the meantime, if—like me—you simply must have these earrings now, contact Al by going to his link below. His business is called; 47_direct Tell, Al, Lynda Hammond sent ya!

I had no clue a drop of oil under my tongue could help me in so many ways—but it has.
I found the perfect product after the company owners found *me*!
The company is Sativa Springs and the guy that reached out to me is John Wagler. He asked me to try his CBD oil and possibly become an influencer.
I was excited, yet anxious. I really wanted to like the oil & prayed it worked. Otherwise, I couldn’t in good conscious: 1/use it;  2/promote it.
Check & Check.
God works in wonderful ways. Details coming on how it’s helped me after just one month. But first more on why they chose little me for this big gig!  You know, out of the millions of IG peeps here: What? Who me?
Now, bear with me here. I realize this might sound a bit self-serving. But you see, I’m a journalist and I question everything & everyone!  Plus, if I don’t toot my own horn—apparently, John will!

1/”Insta-stalked”- John says he & other executives read my posts regularly. “We like your topics, style, personality.”
2/Communication-They value my journalistic background and like my writing style.
3/Health-We’re a “good match because you seek out--and know the importance of--natural health remedies”.
And my favorite reason:
4/Spouse approved- John’s wife is a huge part of the company & her opinion matters. “Quite frankly she likes—and she chose you!” John told me on the phone recently (thank you, Kailan!)
I’ll be writing much more. In the meantime, try THE best CBD Oil & tell me what you think:

My calories---the bad ones I eat-- go to my abs, butt & legs.
Meanwhile, my chocolate mousse never seems to show up on my shoulders, arms or back
Kidding!
I get it.
I realize calories go to every single part of the body—darn it!
But it sure seems as if they go straight to our problem areas because…well, they are—after all--our problem areas.
Seriously, I can eat pizza or a rich dessert and later that day and the next I’m not only seeing it in my upper inside of my legs—I’m feeling it.
I know what you’re thinking---um, then why do you eat pizza and dessert?
Well, who asked you? (hahaha!)
Okay, so this isn’t all bad. This just makes me well aware that I have work to do when it comes to self-discipline.
.
I have some great tips on getting back on track after eating way too much—like I just did today. To get those tips and others about healthy eating, fitness, health and happiness go to “Lynda’s Day”. Click on the tab above.
It’s just $9.97 per YEAR.  I started this website in part because people often ask me—what I eat, what I do in the gym. So, I’ve opted to share everything.

Underbutt Umpf!

I love my Saturday gym strategy. My goal: Camp out at one of the cable machines.
This takes some finagling.
The gym doesn’t open until eight. Heck, that’s late---lunch time for me.  So, I’m there early before they open to make sure I can get my “camp site”.
The doors open and usually I’m the first one through. I love being short—I can get away with stuff like that! Or maybe by my body language, peeps figure I’m on a mission!
I grab one side of one of the cable machines and get comfortable. It’s a bit of a thrill when I’m able to nab a cable unit. During the week, I can never get one—even at five in the morning.
During my “camping trip” I work my glutes and hips. And of course, this also includes the underbutt—the area where the lower glute and upper hamstring meet—or the glute/hamstring tie-in.
So, here’s what I’ve been doing lately:
1/One-legged glute kickbacks- 12.5 lbs. 20 reps, 4 sets. Then switch sides.
2/Hip Abductors—or outside thigh muscle 7.5 lbs. 20 reps, 3-4 sets
3/Hip Adductors-inside of leg, used for bringing thighs together- same as abductors
(For abductors & adductors I do one leg, then switch.)
4/I then do a burn out on the glutes for one more set 12.5 lbs.---each side to failure.
Tips: My pace is very slow, smooth and deliberate---this is what makes it tough—for me anyway.
I also concentrate of squeezing the glute at the top. It takes me an hour to get through the above moves—again, I go slowly.
As for form, look at the picture--you’ll notice I need some practice in this area. My foot shouldn’t come up higher than my booty. That causes my back to arch—not good or safe.
This routine may sound tame but during the week, I’ve already done legs and booty three times and run about 15 miles.
So, you can bet I’m feeling the burn in church the next day! Amen!
