There’s no place like home Today, with all this uncertainty due to the Corona Virus, this is exactly where I want to be. I'm grateful to find comfort in the simple things--that comforting cup of coffee in my hand, a good breakfast, watching an old 1940s movie on TCB, my girls—Millie & Roxy—nearby and my husband, Kevin taking my picture (ha!!) No but seriously, I love and cherish my happy place. When I was a kid, I didn’t exactly have one. James Rd. Elementary 4th Grade Columbus, Ohio When I was younger, home for me was not a comforting place. Instead, it was stressful, scary and secluded. I fended for myself much of the time. Mom and dad were divorced. Mom worked and my two older brothers weren’t exactly nurturing. On the contrary, they were bullies and I was the focus of their ire. Mike and Steve had tempers and I would be the convenient punching bag—especially verbally. I walked on egg shells and was always on guard in my own home. You see, nothing I did was never good enough. When I opted to be brave and do something constructive—say make macaroni & cheese, dust or unload the dishwasher my brothers were always there to criticize. I didn’t add enough cheese. I didn’t put the forks back in the drawer correctly. I missed a spot. “How could anyone be so stupid?” Steve would ask. They always told me I was an idiot, I was ugly. I believed them. The result was often a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, anxiety, I guess it was. So, I’d hide in my room with the door locked until mom got home every night at 5:30. I don’t blame mom. She had to work and I loved her—and still do—very much. Today, the bully is the Corona Virus and with the situation seemingly turning dire every hour, that sick feeling is back. But compared to my childhood and compared to many people during this time of uncertainty, I’m doing quite well. And in order to get through this tough time I will keep praying for others around the world, friends & family while reminding myself to count my many blessings. I’m Happy, Grateful 1/I’m healthy and so are my friends and loved ones 2/I have a roof over my head 3/I can make a cup of coffee without any judgement from anyone in my home 4/I can create a meal without anyone telling me I’m doing it wrong 5/I can work out 6/I can sit at my computer and think & write 7/I can watch TV 8/I can read books 9/I can curl up with Millie & Roxy and take a nap secure in knowing I won’t make anyone angry 10/And I thank God, that today, I'm no longer forced to go to my room and lock the door eote to Mom Mommy if you’re reading this. This was not your fault. You were a hard-working woman who did the best job possible—giving us a home and hot meals. I would not change a thing—after all—look at my now, mommy-- I turned out just fine. I loved you then and I love you even more today! How are you counting your blessings in these tough times? Prognosis: Negative! So, I had a colonoscopy the other day. Good news and a little bad, too. No cancer or polyps. But there is something present in my gut: Eosinophils. Those are white blood cells and they are holding “fight nights” in my gut. Turns out I’m allergic to something I’m eating. Those Eosinophils immediately get to work and start attacking what my body sees as the enemy. Symptoms My symptoms have been annoying. For the past few months, I’ve had gas & bloating, stomach pain and severe diarrhea. I’ve been sore and uncomfortable. So much so that working out is a real struggle. My running these days is sloppy and slow at best and core workouts are few and far between. When you feel like the Pillsbury Dough Boy, it’s tough to work those abs! So, my gastroenterologist has set me up with an allergist. The next step—allergy tests to find out what exactly is causing the issues. Feeling Blessed I’m grateful this is nothing extremely serious but you know what? I am frustrated since I already have a fairly strict—as it is—lots of veggies, fruits, rarely anything processed foods. Though there are those times my willpower goes out the door. In my weaker moments it’s not pretty---I’ll grab a bowl and pour those highly addictive Peanut M&Ms in it—making sure to get more of the red and green, than blue! Yes, still a kid at heart. Reasons for Colonoscopy Colonoscopies are done—primarily to rule out colon cancer and/or to have polyps removed but these days the biopsies and other advances made in the procedure are helping people like me tremendously. For instance, in the past doctors might have misdiagnosed me as having colitis or a gluten issue. But my doc was able to narrow it down to the white blood cells gearing up for battle. Isn’t that cool? Choose This One! And a solid tip for you---the worst part about the colonoscopy is the prep. The day before, we fast AND take a prescribed drink mix that cleans us out. I had no idea there were dozens of different “preps” prescribed. But the one I had--Suprep ---was, by far, the “tastiest” and simplest to drink. And I do have some experience. This was my 7th colonoscopy. So, don’t be afraid to have one. This procedure could save your life. Please share this post if you know someone experiencing tummy issues! BTW: I have some suspects---nuts (no!), dairy (darn!) or eggs (egad!). Make it a Great Day! Amazing! Me in the kitchen. It really is! I’ve never been much of a baker. A childhood trauma would turn me against it. The Oven It was winter of 1968 in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio when Mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas. That’s “easy”. I only need one gift—just ONE: an avocado-colored, metal Easy-Bake Oven. All my friends have one—Janelle, next door, Michelle down the block and Ruthie across the street. Aww, sweet memories. Loved that boxed chocolate cake mix that came with it. It was a blast to watch the light bulb turn the batter into an honest-to-goodness fluffy cake. A Christmas Story I thought mom might say “I’ll let Santa Claus know”. Instead, she would tell me this—something that still haunts me today: “You’re old enough to use the big oven.” This always reminds me of Ralphie in the movie “A Christmas Story” hearing “You’ll shoot your eye out” when he asked for his Red Ryder BB Gun. Mother! But seriously, I’m convinced not getting that toy oven under the tree scarred me for a long time. But after 50 years of pouting, I’ve come to grips with using the big girls’ oven. Baking Bonanza In the past couple of years, I’ve stepped up my baking game—I’ve had to. With—what seems like—dozens of food sensitives and allergies, I have to be diligent about what I’m eating. One of the best ways to do that is to make it myself—duh! Pumpkin Bread One of the concoctions I’m most obsessed with these days is my pumpkin bread. You are going to love this! I’ve combined various recipes, tweaked them, added a healthy spin to it and made it my own. I really think you’ll love it. Keep in mind, it’s not real sweet but that’s the beauty of this recipe. You can always dust some slices with powdered or cinnamon sugar and add the sweetness to it as you like! So, without further ado here it is: Lynda’s Protein Pumpkin Bread Ingredients 1/3 cup Coconut oil (If hard, soften in microwave) 1/4 cup honey I always use this Manuka honey—healthy, great antioxidants Two ripe bananas 2 eggs 1 cup pumpkin puree ¼ cup milk or water 1 tsp freshly ground sticks of organic cinnamon ½ tsp fresh nutmeg 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla extract ½ tsp salt ¾ cup protein powder (I use this--THE best egg white protein) ½ cup ground oats ¼ cup freshly ground whole golden flax seeds (I use and love, love!! THIS brand, also buy it in bulk here—best price) ¼ cup wheat flour Instructions Butter a 9X5 inch loaf pan, bake at 325 degrees for about 60 minutes. Lynda’s notes I usually quadruple the recipe. I freeze two, give one to mom (Yes we’ve buried the “oven” hatchet!) and put one in the ‘fridge. I love sprinkling these dark chocolate chips on top for a bit of healthy cacao—a great antioxidant. Mom likes to butter it sometimes. My dad adds powdered sugar to make it sweeter but he also likes it plain. And my favorite way of eating this? A little unconventional but its yummy. I’ll add some unsweetened coconut flakes and a couple table spoons of chia seeds. Delish—with crunch and again—nutrition from those chia seeds! Love this brand! Try It! So, come on--hey, if I can do this--so can you! Contact me and let me know your thoughts!! And I want to know if you put your own spin on it, too! It's such an easy recipe to change up to ingredients you like! I do hope you’re enjoying my blog. Please share if you know someone who might enjoy it and especially if you know someone who might love my Protein Pumpkin Bread! Make it a great day! It’s Leap Day! So why not try something different for your holistic health? Well, I’ve got just the thing: Sativa Springs Hemp Essentia. It seems every company is "leaping" onto the CBD & Hemp oils band wagon these days. New and well-established businesses have their own formulas and/or add it to their name-brand lotions & potions. But CBD & Hemp oils are not regulated by the FDA. So, listen we have to be diligent to make sure what we’re buying really works and does what it promises. This can be hard—especially with so much out there. But I can make it easy for you. I’ve tried about a dozen brands and can confidently say: Sativa Springs Hemp Essentia is one of the good ones! I’ve used Sativa Springs now for more than 8 months and here are just a few of the incredible improvements I’ve experienced. Sativa Springs 1/Better Sleep-Before using Sativa Springs I was waking up about ten times a night. Now, I might wake up once. I get a deeper, sleep and feel well-rested and ready to take on the day. 2/Mood-I’m calmer and have a better outlook on life in general. I know it sounds incredible that an oil can do this—but there’s nothing else that I’ve changed—so I do credit the Sativa Springs. 3/Healthier Hair-I occasionally use it on my scalp and run the excess through my hair. My locks are shinier and it grows in thicker and faster. One caveat: I’d like to use it every day on my hair but I’d run out of product. So, –treating it like “liquid gold”—I use it sparingly and add some to the scalp and hair when I’m able. The reason I know it works well on my hair? One month I had an extra bottle and used it only on my head. The results? Amazing! 4/Healthier Skin-Love the way it feels on my skin. And my skin really does glow afterwards. Hemp oil is high in anti-oxidants—fatty acids like GLA or Gamma-Linolenic Acid and Vitamins A, C & E. It helps to plump up the skin and ward off the appearance of fine lines and dull skin. 5/Improved Memory-So lately I’ve noticed a difference in my ability to remember things. Here is one of my best indicators it’s improved. I go to Sprouts Market about four times a week—yeah, I eat a lot of vegetables—so I have to. Typically, I make a list on my phone of about 4-10 things I need. So, I play a little game with myself. I get my cart and grab what I need. Then I look at my list. These days, I’m usually able to get it all without checking my list. This is huge for me and a great indicator I’m doing better with my memory ability. And that’s just what I’ve gotten help with. There are a lot of other conditions that can benefit from Full Spectrum Hemp Oil including depression, anxiety, Alzheimer’s disease, Autism and much more. What is Sativa Springs? Sativa Springs uses an excellent, clean & pure process to source the whole Cannabis plant insuring the best, most effective oil. The official name is Sativa Springs Hemp Essentia. It is a Full Spectrum Hemp oil. The words “Full Spectrum” are critical. Make sure whatever you use it is made from the full spectrum. This means the product contains *all* of the Cannabinoids from-- the Cannabis Sativa plant—both--leaves & flowers. Some oils use simply use the seeds which isn’t as effective. Another critical issue: Choose organic to alleviate chances of contamination from other plants and pesticides. To sum it up: Sativa Springs’ Hemp Essentia’s core ingredient is Cannabis Sativa—from the entire plant—flowers and leaves. It’s imported from regulated at organic hemp farms in the Netherlands. There’s no chance of pesticides, or cross-breeding. And “plant modification” is strictly prohibited and thus regulated. Sativa Springs Click here to order it online SativaSprings.com or Call: 214-494-9004 Use my code: LYNDAHAMMOND when ordering by phone or on line Usually the cost is $80 but with my discount—one bottle is $68. Typically, this is a one-month supply. But if you use less or use it less often it could last more than two months. Reach out to Lynda Let me know if you’ve ever used CBD or Hemp Oil. Remember, we get what we pay for. Buying sub-par products is essentially equal to buying “snake oil” and is a waste of money. Comment below. Make it a great Leap Day! (Pic: Christmas Eve 2015, Gold Canyon, Arizona) Picky, persnickety people run in my circles. The place we cause the biggest ruckus? Restaurants. From the first order: Me: “Water, no ice, no lemon please.” Then, the first course, which I tweak for optimum nutrition. “Green salad. No cheese, croutons or nuts but add spinach, kale, cucumbers and carrots. Vinaigrette on the side. And that dressing, it doesn’t contain MSG, does it? If so—I’ll have vinegar & oil.” Whew—and that’s just for starters-- I’ll spare you the rest! picture from 1993, Columbus, Ohio) Grandma, Mom & Me! There’s a reason I’m so finicky. You see, I have to caress my colon. Hello, stomach discombobulation! My grandma—Minerva Sweet—(yes, that was her name!) had non-stop digestive issues. These days, mom and I discuss diarrhea details daily. Mom: “I’m feeling spunky.” Me: “Ug. I’m out of toilet paper!” Hey, I know it’s not the most pleasant of conversations but bowel talk is paramount to our overall health! Colonoscopy And you may be wondering where I’m going with this. Well, straight to the Gastroenterologist. I’m having my “spa day”—also known as a colonoscopy. And this is nothing new for me. Next week will be my seventh colonoscopy---yes, my 7th!! While not one has uncovered anything serious—I still have to be checked. Food fussiness is a fact of life for me. It’s draining living with digestion problems, tough to function normally. Diarrhea leaves me weak feeling like I have the flu. Thankfully, the tests have never revealed anything serious in my family. The diarrhea is typically caused by food intolerances, allergies or even nerves. (pic: this week, my kitchen) Lifesaver But when symptoms persist for more than two weeks, it’s critical we all get checked in order to rule out something serious, like cancer. The stigma associated with diarrhea symptoms makes some peeps reluctant to get checked out, let alone have a colonoscopy. But we need answers and this screening is the only way to get them. I remember the first one I had, a friend stated: That’s so awful, so embarrassing. How can you do that? Um, because it could save my life. And a colonoscopy could save yours, too. The Process It’s much easier to go through than people think. The worst part is the prep the day before. This is where we fast for 24 hours—and drink a clear liquid to clean out the colon. This way the doc can see up there with the tiny camera. If there is any trouble--polyps found or a biopsy needed—he can do it right then and there. Listen, if you’re having digestive issues—get checked out—now! It can mean the difference between life and death. Let me know if you’ve ever had a colonoscopy or if this blog helped you understand why maybe you should have one! My big day is set for Tuesday. I’ll be posting more next week! If you this topic is important to you, let me know. If you know someone who needs to get checked, please share this blog. It could be a real lifesaver. It’s back! My hair is growing again and my bald spots are gone. And I owe a lot of it to this lady next to me. Dr. Semone Rochlin is a plastic surgeon in Scottsdale, Arizona. When I started losing my hair, going to a plastic surgeon like Dr. Rochlin wasn’t something that crossed my mind. But it sure should have been. Scary Scenario in ‘16 This picture shows my scalp and just how much hair I’d lost--notice my receding hair line, too. In 2016, after a taking an anti-biotic, it began coming out in clumps. I lost half of it. Turns out the pill was a chemo-drug but used off-label for other ailments.
Friendly & Fun! Dr. Rochlin’s office is like no other I’ve visited. First off, I was greeted by one of her precious companions—Lola, the Sheep-a-doodle. Lola helps to keep patients calm during treatments. As for Dr. Rochlin it’s easy to stay feel at ease in her presence too. She’s extremely warm, comforting and supportive. At my appointments, I feel like I’m sitting down with a good friend. How Many Treatments Dr. Rochlin says we should all have three initial PRP Hair treatments within about 6 months. After that, we might be done as the PRP continues to work. As for me, I’m not taking any chances of losing my hair again. So, I’m opting for two maintenance PRPs a year just to be on the safe side.
Hold On! During workouts I usually run, lift weights & do Yoga. Then at least twice a week, I make time for a little Zen at the end. I do two poses and hold them for at least five minutes. One is the plank. About a year ago I incorporated long plank holds in my work outs. My goal: five minutes. Surprised I was able to make it on my first try but—wow—I was squirming in that last minute. Planks for Health! 1/Great for our core. Works a lot of the ab muscles. 2/Helps ease back pain. Building abs helps to strengthen the back which lessens pain. 3/Improves flexibility. Shoulders & upper body in general are made stronger, thus more flexible. 4/Great for metabolism. Challenging our body with the plank holds helps burn calories. 5/Better mood. Planks ease tension which helps with our general outlook on life. Tip: Plank holds are just one of the moves we should include in our regimen. Make sure you do other forms of strength training & cardio. Click here for tips on the plank. Now, after planking, there’s one more pose I like to do and hold. And this one is good for the booty. Yay! It’s the bridge. Bridge Benefits 1/Relieves menopause symptoms 2/Strengthens core 3/Boosts mood, reduces anxiety 4/Improves performance, especially for runners 5/Improves posture Click here for tips on how to do the bridge. These poses are relaxing and can be done anywhere, anytime. Try them in a hotel room, while watching TV, reading a magazine. It’s okay to start slow. Encouragement You don't have to start off doing 10 minute holds. It's incredibly empowering to work up to it each day or week. So, let's say you can hold a plank or bridge for :20 today. Tomorrow shoot for a bit longer--do a :40 hold, next day try for a minute. Every day you will progress and that feels so good physically & mentally. I guarantee you will feel stronger! "Hold" progress is a good barometer of just how far we’ve come. For instance, that first long plank-hold I did? Killer. Now? Relatively easy! Ten minutes here I come! Make it a great day! What I’m holding here is not low in calories. But it is made with “healthy” chocolate as well as other clean ingredients. It’s one of my favorite desserts and it even includes protein powder. More on that & the recipe in Lynda’s Day. Healthy Chocolate That may sound like an oxymoron but it is possible to find a chocolate that’s good for us. As long as we eat it in moderation. Yeah, yeah—sometimes I hate that word too-- moderation. I don’t graze, I gobble—especially when it comes to chocolate. I’ve had my share of seemingly non-stop sugar highs. I mean get this--I’ve come close to eating an entire one-pound bag of Peanut M&Ms while watching a movie. That crunch, that flavor. They are addictive. And those big Hershey’s Almond Milk Chocolate bars? Pffft—child’s play. Yep, I’ve eaten two of those within minutes on more than one occasion. Cold Cream! As for ice cream or gelato? I can’t keep it at home—um, goodbye entire half gallon. So, my husband and I have it when we’re out. This is my favorite place to go in Arizona. But I have a rule-- I must eat it at the shop for two reasons: 1/No walking-I cannot walk & eat at the same time. I’m serious! I really need to concentrate on that creamy, chocolaty goodness. Otherwise, I’d wander into a pole, a person, or traffic—yikes! 2/Second helping-And when I’m done, there’s a good chance I’ll go right back for another one. Embarrassed!? Ha! Hardly. I know what you might be wondering. So, does my husband get another one, too? No. Usually he’s still eating his first when I go for my second. He’ll just shake his head, watch me devour more and says “You’ll be sorry.” And he’s right. I usually am. Hello, stomach discombobulation! No, but seriously I shouldn’t do things like this. It is considered binge eating which is terrible for us. Plus, I’m really trying to be diligent about not eating sugar. So, binge eating Butterfinger Candy bars is not an option—anymore. One thing that has helped me get a handle on my chocolate cravings? Switching to high-quality chocolate. The Good Stuff About ten years ago, I read an article that would change my thinking on chocolate. As with any food, the less processed, the healthier it is. So, if we want to eat dark chocolate that is considered healthy, what we should look for are brands in which the cocoa powder is “non-dutched”. Essentially, it means chocolate that has been less processed. The dutching process makes chocolate taste sweeter. Keep in mind this is how most of all of the big chocolate brands are concocted. They are high in sugar content. So, I try and always get my chocolate from brands that do not use the dutching process, have less sugar, fewer ingredients which translates into our bodies getting the healthy anti-oxidants found in dark chocolate. Here is the brand I’ve eaten for the last ten years. But it seems like there are new brands to discover all the time, these days. So, I may need to try some. The Deets For my yummy—non-dutched-chocolate-ice-cream-like-yogurt-dessert recipe go to Lynda’s Day. Yes, there is a nominal fee for this section but it gets you on the inside for $9.97 per year! You get access to an entire year of everything I do on a daily basis from my diet to workouts to what I’m reading! Coming soon here on FitOver50Plus: while the better chocolate is more expensive, I’ll explain why, when it comes to our health, it’s really less expensive in the long run. Friendly reminder I do not get paid by the companies I’ve included in my blog or here on Lynda’s Day. However, if you click on my links, I might get a tiny commission from Amazon.com. That means with your support I can continue to bring you quality, helpful content. And for that I love you and thank you very much. Make it a great Day! Valentine’s Day: Yay! Reminiscing about Valentine’s Days past: 1/Cards-Remember, those cute greetings we’d get from classmates? I wish I’d saved a few so I could look at them again. It would be much fun to see them now! 2/Clothes-I always donned my favorite red or pink outfit for school. I still wear festive clothing. Though, these days it’s usually workout wear. 3/Candy-Those yummy treats. It’s the sweet memories that really take me back to the 1960s & 70s. I loved those tiny, red cinnamon hearts. Oh, and those chewy, cherry hearts--cinnamon too. And then there was my all-time fav Valentine’s Day Candy. Let’s Talk About It When I was in grade school, my favorite candy by far: conversation hearts—you know those little hard, pastel-colored candy with statements like “Love Me”, “Hug Me” on them? I looked forward to seeing which color & fun phrase I’d choose next—and of course, pop into my mouth. They’re still available today, by the way. Change in Conversation Then one day everything changed. In 1976, my palette was about to get a lot more sophisticated. I remember, the moment like it was yesterday—my new dad walked in from a long day of work and said he’d brought a Valentine’s Day gift for mom & me. Strawberry Sophistication Jerry gave us each a big, red foil-covered Russell Stover’s chocolate heart with soft, gooey marsh mellow cream strawberry inside. Bummer. I was disappointed because I didn’t think it could possibly be good. In 1976, Jerry was my new “dad” so, I didn’t want to seem ungrateful so I tried it. Oh my! Delicious!! To this day I still LOVE those “heart” warming treats. When I have one of them it become an “event”. You see, it’s not just the terrific taste I still love so much, but the memories that come with it. That chocolate and strawberry will forever remind me of the first gift Jerry ever gave me. Since I love him deeply, it’s a darn good memory and still so special today. Jerry, my step-dad just turned 91, mom is almost 87 and they are both as cute as ever—as you can see in the picture taken a few months ago while we were Christmas shopping in Scottsdale, Arizona. Could they be any cuter!? Sophistication Snob? Now, I’ve moved on to even more complexity. Oh sure, I still love the candy from my childhood but these days—since I try and eat nourishing foods, I’m making better choices even when it comes to chocolate. I now buy chocolate that tastes good and is good for me, too. We all know dark chocolate is what we should choose but if we want the “healthy’ kind there’s a lot more to it than just a darker shade of cocoa. So, in my blog tomorrow, I’ll share the exact brand of chocolate I eat most often these days and why. Important note: I do not get paid, nor do I represent the companies in the links above. But I might get a few pennies IF you click on some of the links above & buy through those links. So, if you like my blog & want me to keep writing—well, I thank you in advance for your support! Happy Valentine’s Day! If you like my blog please share with friends and family. And do join Lynda’s Day—it’s just $9.95 per YEAR—yes, per year! This is where I talk about even more about diet, fitness, beauty, mental health and self-care in general. (Lynda Hammond (me!) sipping my breakfast drinks--coffee & bone broth! Yummy--well, sort of!) Bone Broth is good for us but it isn’t good tasting—at least not to me, anyway. It basically tastes like salty water. But I do drink it every single day-- for the health benefits. My Naturopath suggested I try it when I started losing my hair. I researched it and have been sipping it now every morning for more than four years. My hair has come back—while bone broth might be one reason for that there are other things I’ve done to get my hair back—I’ll be writing on that soon but for now—we’re talking my favorite brand of bone broth. The Ugly First, I’ll start with the Ugly. I’ve tried about 12 brands found in grocery and health food stores. I don’t like the frozen brands, not because of the taste or the ingredients but for the simple reason, I don’t have enough room in my freezer. I buy bone broth by the case—so frozen just isn’t a good option for me. Please also avoid those with gobs of ingredients. More on that below. The Bad I’ve tasted some really bad brands. The best way for me to describe their taste is to reference an old I Love Lucy Episode. Remember, Vitameatavegin? The one where she tries this “health potion” and it tastes terrible? Well, the faces she makes while trying to get it down her gullet are nothing short of hilarious. I’ve always said, that episode should be used in acting classes: “Students, this lesson is where we learn how to pretend something tastes bad.” Okay, I digress. Anyway, I would make that this-tastes-terrible-face after every single sip of some of the bone broths I tasted. In Homemade My husband saw me doing this one day and said “Geez, if it’s that bad I can make it for you”. And he did for more than two years. It tasted decent and it was a lot less expensive. Bless his heart, Kevin would buy 10lbs of bones and cook it for 30 hours in the crock pot. We started with chicken bones. But chicken had no marrow left on it so we switched to beef bones. But even after 30 hours of simmering the concoction, the bones did not disintegrate. And that’s what most of the recipes say we need in order to reap the benefits. (Left, that's me with the homemade version. It would last about 8 days.) I felt I should go back to the big-name brands because they likely are able to get it right. So, just recently I tried a bunch more brands and have switched back to store bought. I figure the big companies can create it better than I can. The Good Now, I drink this brand. I don’t make the “Lucy” face while drinking it. But it’s not something I’d order during a night on the town. However, it’s chock full of healthy nutrients—things that will give me more protein and vitamins in my diet. And that makes it all worth it! Read Labels How did I settle on this brand? It’s fairly simple. While shopping in the grocery store, I get my glasses out, grab an item from the shelf, turn the package around and read. Some labels I didn’t even have the read—if the list included more than 10 things—I put it back on the shelf, toot-sweet. Anyway, this is, by far, one of the cleanest drinks out there. Out of all the brands I looked at this one consisted of three key points: It had the fewest ingredients, the fewest calories per serving and no chemicals. Plus, I like the carton. Doesn’t have to be in the ‘fridge until you open it! Very convenient. I buy it by the case here. ***Important note: Please know I do not get paid, nor do I represent the company in the links above. But I might get a few pennies IF you click on this link AND buy it here! However, if Pacific’s incredibly knowledgeable, talented and health-conscious owners are reading this right now—Hey, I’m available! Call me! How’s that for a shameless plug!? For more of the benefits of drinking bone broth see my blog post from February 10, 2020. If you like my blog please share with friends and family.
