Happy New Year! I started it off in a weak way but the what I did differently helped me to realize—I’m finally learning to take care of myself. I took this picture because I was finally feeling better for the first time in 10 days. And yes—that’s a Christmas coffee cup---I got sick and just haven’t had time to put them away for the year. Anyway, back to starting off the year—sick. Typically, I would immediately go through a roller coaster of emotions and thoughts as I felt an illness creeping in: 1/Anger-I try & determine where I got the bug. The gym? Store? Was it that lady that coughed on me in the bakery department? 2/Self-Bullying-I’m mean to myself like a drill sergeant in the Marines. “Sissy. Come on—a little temperature of 104 never hurt anyone. Give me 100 push-ups”. Sir, yes, Sir! 3/Doctor Who? She’ll just give me pills. I can kick this on my own. Well, I’ve definitely changed, improved and grown. You see, I didn’t do any of that. I listened to my body and gave myself a break. 1/Party Pooper-I skipped a New Year’s Eve party. 2/Sleepy Girl-Slept until eight every morning— not even waking up at my regular time I’d 3:40 AM. 3/Water! Drank gobs of H20, ate nourishing foods— instead of heavy carbs, like I usually would. 4/Doctor! Doctor! Yes, I went. Diagnosis: bronchitis & ear infection. 5/Beddy Bye-I crawled into bed at 3:00 every afternoon with a good book and my two babies—Millie and Roxy!! I know it seems like common sense but a lot of us do what I used to do—bully ourselves into walking around sick. Not a good idea. Instead, if you get sick don’t get discouraged: Just rest, water, good food, Epsom Salts baths and Neti Pots. It really pays off---duh! But seriously, I really do feel a lot better. .
